    • Always shock at dusk or night — Florida's UV burns unstabilized chlorine in 2–3 hrs.
    • Pre-dissolve granular shock in a bucket of water before adding to pool.
    • Brush pool walls and floor thoroughly before shocking for algae.
    • Run pump continuously for 24 hours after shocking.
    • Do not swim until free chlorine drops below 5 ppm — test before entering.
    • South FL pools: maintain CYA at 30–50 ppm year-round to protect chlorine from the sun.
